Galardi

Galardi was founded in 1991 by Roberto Selvaggi, Maria Luisa Murena, Francesco Catello, Dora and Arturo Celentano with the dream to produce a high quality red wine. Since the beginning they decided to address Riccardo Cotarella to ask for its consultancy.

The first intervention concerned the recovery of the old vineyards and then the construction of new plants. As suggested by the winemaker, Riccardo, native grapes have been selected for the production of the first wine of the Galardi winery, Terra di Lavoro: made by 80% of Aglianico and 20% of Piedirosso. The first harvest of Terra di Lavoro was in 1994 and in 1997 the winery decided to follow the Organic Agriculture. Galardi grew up time after time by increasing the hectares reaching on average in the last years 30.000 bottles per year and a small selection of larger size, as Magnum (from 1999) and Double Magnum (from 2002).

Since 1994, the first harvest of Terra di Lavoro, Galardi has produced one wine. Then in 2017, in spite of climate change, since the first evolutionary stages of the ripening of the grapes, the signs of a great vintage and mainly an excellent performance of Piedirosso were evident. A proportion of Piedirosso that exceeded that needed for the mixture of Terra di Lavoro has been selected. Galardi winery presented its second wine in April 2019, called Terra di Rosso, made by 100% of Piedirosso.
